Peter wrote to the Jews that judgment would begin at the house of God, meaning the house of Israel. The church and the wise virgins (Jews who received the Spirit of adoption through the Gospel) will be caught up, and judgment will begin on the foolish virgins, who had the old covenant spirit of bondage. If the righteous one, like foolish Lot, is scarcely saved, where will the ungodly and the sinner who does not obey the Gospel of God appear?
