I Was Found by Those Who Did Not Seek Me
How often in church you can hear words that sometimes strike you right in the heart like a whip of condemnation, and when you hear them you condemn yourself even more. I mean words like: “Make an effort to seek God!…” But this is what is written: “But Isaiah is very bold and says: ‘I was found by those who did not seek Me; I was made manifest to those who did not ask for Me.’” [Rom.10:20]! Sometimes, when we are drowning in the depths of self-pity or self-condemnation, we would like to find Him, but being in some kind of fog, you can’t even do that. Yet even then the Lord Himself calls you out of that fog; He Himself comes and seeks you, like a shepherd seeking a lost sheep, and often at the very time when you are even turning away from Him. His love and grace know no limits and no conditions, for He loved us while we were still sinners [Rom.5:8]
